striker training with Dempo SC

As per the reports of TOI, Former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Rohan Ricketts is training with i-League champions Dempo SC. The English striker made his debut for the gunners against Manchester United in a League Cup at the age of just 18. Ricketts has played for several top English clubs which includes the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur,Wolverhampton Wonderers, Queens Park Rangers and Coventry City. Ricketts was a part of the Arsenal team which won the FA Youth Cup 2000 and 2001 after which he donned the senior team jersey. In 2002, he switched to one of Arsenal's arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur. During his time at Tottenham, he had few loan spells with Wolves and Coventry City after which he permanently moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was also seen wearing the Queens Park Rangers jersey in 2007 during a loan spell. Ricketts played for several clubs after he was released by Wolves in the same year. Some names include Barnsley(Championship, England), Toronto FC(Major League Soccer, USA), Diósgyőri VTK(Hungary), FC Dacia Chişinău(Moldovan National Division,Moldova), SV Wilhelmshaven(Germany), Shamrock Rovers(Ireland), Exeter City(League One, England). Ricketts also represented England team at many junior levels.

Ricketts has been training with Dempo from Thursday and has scored twice in a eight a side match where he featured. He told TOI that the intensity of training is low as compared to what he went through in his previous clubs but he also admired the passion for the game. He also compared Dempo coach Armando Colaco's style of thinking with Arsene Wenger's approach. He also liked the fact that Dempo Sports Club focused on keeping the ball on ground rather than relying on ambitious aerial balls. If a deal is struck between the two then we shall see Rickets becoming the first Premier League player to play for an i-League club.
